Because a lot of these cases can be ordered for cheap, there is plenty of room to increase margins if you are able to nurture relationships with customers.

FOLLOWING UP WITH CUSTOMERS
It is extremely important that you nurture your relationships with your customers. You need to build that familiarity and trust in order to grow your business because ultimately it is your repeat customers and stellar reputation for good customer service is what grows your business, i.e. Pareto's Law.
How it applies to your eBay business is your positive feedback. You need customers to leave you positive comments each and every time you made a successful sale.
Positive comments = increased awareness for your products = increased sales for you

Also the trust you build is more important than price, meaning you are able to charge more for your product compared to a vendor that sells it cheaper but had not established a relationship. Non-templates
There are other messages you can send that I would be unable to do templates for that provide familiarity triggers and value giving, and that's information/guides relevant to the product purchased. You want to be providing information is useful for the product and that might lead the customer to make another purchase. For example, if I was selling Go Pros, I would write "5 of the coolest ways to use a Go Pro". If I was selling keyboard, "5 coolest songs you need to learn on keyboard". If I was selling knives "5 best knives to bring with you to camp". Quick Google research can provide you plenty of information of things you can write.
GOLDEN RULES FOR NURTURING CUSTOMERS
- Initial messages should have a gap of few days to 1 week each;
- Familiarity trigger messages should have a gap of 1-3 weeks each;
- Do not have a gap of over a month between messages - this is considered too long!
- You should send customers messages regularly but no need to send them everyday otherwise it becomes too much spam;
- Always provide value in your messages. Not all templates above were about selling, some were there to provide value and familiarity, this is what sells in the long term. Messages that provide value are not treated as spam;
- Similar to last point - do not always sell in your messages, sometimes just provide information or even a quick hello;
- When you are selling, provide calls to action and a link to your offers
- You can use the same familiarity triggers on the same customers multiple times, but they must be slightly tweaked each time
If you implement these strategies, you will find your customer service to be top notch and they will come back to you time and again!
THE PROBLEM WITH NURTURING CUSTOMERS OVER eBAY
We have provided you with templates and golden rules in order for you to save time in thinking of ideas and creating messages from scratch. Trust me, that is hours saved on your part!
However even so, you might still find that applying templates and messaging customers individually will still take a long time, especially if you begin to have many many customers! With templates and golden rules we've given you, the time taken to nurture your customers goes from 8-10 hours per day to 4 hours per day. However, wouldn't you like to reduce it to around 1 hour per day?
I'm sure you realize by now the value of spending time nurturing customer relationships on eBay and it would be time well spent. However, the problem with messaging customers on eBay is that:
- Your existing customers are not always on their eBay account - a lot of your messages can go unnoticed;
- You have to send each message to each customer individually. That means copy/pasting each template AND doing the same tweaks for EACH message for EACH customer!
- Difficult to track and keep up with the different stages that the customers are on in your message chain. E.g. if you have 100 customers, 22 might be new purchases so you have to individually send them initial thank you messages. 57 are existing customers so you have to copy/paste familiarity trigger messages. And 21 customers have sent questions so you have to answer each one;
- Again if you have 100 customers and you want to let them know of new products, you have to manually copy/paste the same message individually!
I personally prefer to take my customers outside of eBay messages and nurture my relationships over email autoresponders because:
- Customers are almost always checking their emails over checking their eBay account;
- I can create an email once and it can be sent to all my customers in one click!
- I can create a series of emails and all my customers will go through that series without me doing anything else. E.g. if I create a series of 4 separate emails, "Hello", "Take a look at out new products", "Familiarity trigger" and "Let us find that product for you", all new customers will automatically go through that email series in that exact order from the beginning - I don't need to worry about keeping track of every customer!
- No need to copy/paste emails individually to each customer. Just copy/paste the templates once, choose which customer you want to contact then simply click to send!
